We had a lovely morning with six enthusiastic participants as we gathered to explore the art of the 99-word story with writing coach Charli Mills.

During the session, we worked through shorter practice pieces (including a 159-word prompt, then a 59-word exercise) before returning to write a full 99-word story. The structure helped all of us warm up, reflect, experiment with brevity and focus, and then craft our final 99-word pieces with clarity and impact using the prompt: “What I remember of my happiest moment of my childhood”.

Thank you to Charli for sharing her expertise and inspiration — and thank you also to the morning’s snacks from Laurium Bites, which added a delicious touch to our gathering.

This event is part of pre-event of Keweenaw International Children’s Festival that are supported by the grant from Copper Shores Community Foundation and Keweenaw Community Foundation.
