Today, our Wellness Café gathering at Fresh Coast Yoga was a beautiful reminder of how powerful it is to simply pause and breathe. Led by Beth Krause, nine participants joined the session – women from our community who carved out time in the middle of busy schedules, family responsibilities, and winter fatigue to reconnect with their bodies and minds.

Beth guided us through foundational breathing techniques (horse breath, alternate nostril breahting, etc) and a basic (but essential) Sun Salutation sequence. While the movements were simple, they were deeply grounding. We were reminded that yoga is not about complexity or intensity – it is about awareness. About listening to what our body needs in the present moment.

For many of us, especially mothers and caregivers, it can feel rare to take intentional time for ourselves. This session created a gentle space to slow down, stretch, breathe, and feel supported by other women in the room.

We are deeply grateful to Fresh Coast Yoga for welcoming us into their studio, and to the Keweenaw Community Foundation for supporting the Wellness Café program. Your support allows us to continue creating meaningful spaces that reduce isolation and build connection in our community.

Up Next:
Our next Wellness Café session at Fresh Coast Yoga will be pilates, led by one of our international community members, Walchiria. We are excited to continue highlighting the strengths and talents within our diverse community.

Stay tuned for details – we hope you’ll join us!
