At our recent International Neighbors meeting, Puti Ceniza introduced us to the art of furoshiki—an age-old Japanese technique of wrapping items in beautifully designed cloth.

With 20 eager participants, we explored practical ways to incorporate this sustainable practice into our daily lives.

During the workshop, Puti demonstrated several basic techniques, including the classic ‘bento’ wrap for lunch boxes, the ‘bag’ style for carrying books or groceries, and the ‘bottle’ wrap, perfect for gifts. Participants practiced tying various knots and learned how to choose the right fabric for different purposes, combining aesthetics with functionality.
