We had such a wonderful time today at our Journaling to Write a Memoir workshop with Dr. Rehema! A total of 10 participants from the EBLP community and the public joined us at the library for a morning – noon of writing, reflection, and good conversation with new friends.

Rehema walked us through simple but powerful ways to use journaling as a starting point for writing a memoir. We talked about building a regular writing habit (20 minutes uninterrupted time to write with a good and relaxing music is a good start), creating a “story bank” of memories, and paying attention to all the little details that make our stories come alive. She also reminded us that writing can bring up emotions—and that it’s okay to step back, take our time, and return to those stories when we’re ready.

The session felt relaxed, thoughtful, and encouraging. Everyone left with fresh ideas for how to keep writing and collecting their stories.

A big thank you to Rehema for leading such an engaging workshop, Brandon to assist, and to the Portage Lake District Library (Asako) for helping co-host this event with us.

And of course, thanks to everyone who came—we loved sharing the space with you and hearing pieces of your journeys.
