The Keweenaw International Children’s Festival takes place September 14-19 at the Portage Lake District Library as part of Festival of Nations Week.
This free community event celebrates cultures from around the world through fun, hands-on activities for children and families.
Throughout the week, visitors can:
- Explore cultural displays and exhibits from different countries
- Complete a World Explorer Passport by participating in activities and challenges
- Learn greetings, traditions, games, and facts from around the world
- Discover books, dolls, clothing, and artifacts representing many cultures
On Saturday, September 19 — beginning at 11:00 AM — children who complete their World Explorer Passport will receive international snacks and recognition for their participation.
Additional activities throughout the week include:
- International Kahoot Trivia (7+)
- Flags Bingo
- Storytimes and cultural activities
- Special presentations and demonstrations
The festival is open to everyone and is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to learn about different cultures, make new connections, and celebrate the diversity of our community.
